Characteristics and Failure Handling methods of Chinese small cnc lathe machine

September 03, 2025

The characteristics of China's cheap cnc lathe machines are mainly reflected in their economy and practicality. It adopts a relatively simple structure and control system, meeting basic processing requirements while reducing costs. It is suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises or individuals to use. This type of lathe usually has high processing accuracy and efficiency, and can meet the processing requirements of general parts.

However, cheap cnc lathe machine may also encounter some malfunctions during use. The following are some common faults and their handling methods:

The tool fails to return to zero: This type of malfunction is usually caused by a control system failure. You can try to check and replace the switching transistor. Because when the switching transistor is damaged, the high-voltage power supply for high-speed zero return cannot be turned on, resulting in insufficient output torque of the stepping motor and thus causing step loss during zero return.

The tool post is not locked tightly: This might be caused by the position of the sending disk not being aligned properly, the system not being locked for a long enough time, or a malfunction of the mechanical locking mechanism. This problem can be solved by disassembling the tool post, adjusting the position of the sending disk and the system's self-locking time parameters, as well as inspecting and repairing the mechanical locking mechanism.

Tool post overtravel or insufficient rotation: Such faults may be caused by reasons such as the rear support device not functioning, spring fatigue, or the tool being too long and heavy. You can check whether the rear rest locating pin is flexible, whether the spring is fatigued, and whether the connection between the rear rest ratchet and the worm is disconnected. At the same time, it is also possible to consider replacing the positioning pin spring with a slightly larger elastic modulus.

Overall, the fault handling of small cnc lathes requires a comprehensive consideration of both mechanical structure and electrical control aspects. When encountering problems, one should first conduct a simple inspection and adjustment. If the problem cannot be solved, then consider replacing the relevant components or seeking professional help. At the same time, regular maintenance and upkeep of lathes are also important measures to prevent malfunctions.
