How to maintain a machining center in winter

December 11, 2025

When using a machining center, many malfunctions are caused by minor reasons. Developing some

good habits, maintaining it carefully, and inspecting it thoroughly before work can effectively reduce

malfunctions and greatly extend its service life. The service life of a well-maintained device and one

that has not been maintained may differ by several times. We hope that all users will never neglect the value of maintenance.

1) Clean the impurities in the cutting fluid in time to prevent internal blockage of the spindle, which

may cause poor cold circulation and so on.

2) Ensure that the lubrication pump is working properly and preheated before commencing operation.

3) If the coolant is poured out, do not forget to refill the water tank the next day and run it at a low

speed to ensure normal water flow from all water outlets.

4) Clean the chips in the machine tool in time to avoid drainage blockage or travel obstruction caused

by accumulation, which may even lead to machine tool failure.

5) After work, if it cannot be ensured that the coolant in the water tank does not condense, it is best to

pour out the water and drain the coolant in the main shaft and water pipes to prevent freezing, which

may lead to blockage or rupture.

6) It is essential to ensure the fluidity of the cooling fluid to prevent condensation due to excessively

low temperatures, as poor cooling can lead to untimely cooling of tools and other components.
